BENGALURU: Six techies flying to Germany were prevented from boarding an Emirates airlines flight for three hours by its ground staff at Kempegowda International Airport here on Saturday morning though they showed proof of being vaccinated with Covaxin and Covishield that are approved by the German government. They were allowed to board the flight to Dubai en route to Frankfurt only after signing a declaration.
Software engineer Yogesh D from Marathahalli went to the airport with five colleagues to leave for Germany on official work. The techies, booked on EK 565 from Bengaluru to Dubai and EK 047 from Dubai to Frankfurt, had a rude shock when they were stopped despite possessing valid vaccination certificates and negative Covid test reports. “When we were checking in at the Emirates counter around 6.25am Saturday, a staff member said we couldn’t board as there was some issue with our vaccination papers. Five of us had taken Covishield and I had three doses of Covaxin and both are approved by Germany for travel,” Yogesh said.
