Penny Lancaster has opened up about how joining City of London Police has given her a new lease of life at 50.
The former model, 52, completed her training as a Special Constable in April 2021 after beginning volunteering with the force following her appearance on the Channel 4 show Famous And Fighting Crime, in which celebrities swapped their day jobs with those of emergency service professionals.
Appearing on ITV's Loose Women on Thursday as a guest, the former panellist waxed lyrical about her role, but admitted she had suffered a set back in it after suffering a recent knee injury.
She shared that she had a torn meniscus on her right knee which she sustained during a recent trip abroad, which has meant that she had to come off foot patrol while she heals.
"I miss it dreadfully, it's like my injection of life to be out there and volunteer and help out like I can do. I miss it," she told the panel.
It's that whole thing of when women get to 50, it's not the end, absolutely not. Forget menopause, forget all that. If you get the help and support you need, we're capable of anything... so learn a new skill."
She also praised husband of 20 years, Rod Stewart, for supporting her in this new chapter.
In 2022, he proudly watched on as she was presented with a certificate at her passing out parade with the City of London Police.
"He's seen the dedication I have with the force and what it gives me back, as well as what I can give them," she explained.
Adding: "We're a good team, we bounce off each other's energies. He supports my jobs and my roles that I take on and vice versa."
