50 bulls rescued by Aurangabad rural police

AURANGABAD: The Vaijapur police of Aurangabad rural on Saturday rescued 50 bulls suspected of being brought for sacrifice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha on Sunday.

Based on the complaint lodged by an officer, an offence was registered and three accused were arrested for violating the sections of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976.

The action is being considered to be significant. An officer claimed that Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narvekar, citing a letter sent by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has shot a letter to the director-general of police asking him to take steps for preventing sacrificing of cow and its progeny on Eid. Accordingly, Vaijapur police teams led by inspector Samrat Singh Rajput raided three different shades located in the Millat Nagar area of Vaijapur and rescued the animals.
