An 8-year-old girl died Saturday after she was struck by a stray bullet in Little Village as someone opened fire at a man coming out of a nearby store, according to Chicago police.
Melissa Ortega was walking with a guardian about 2:45 p.m. when someone fired shots at the 26-year-old man in the 3900 block of West 26th Street, striking him in the back, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
