5 walks an hour from Nottinghamshire that end with a pub

There is only one thing that beats a nice leisurely stroll on a quiet Sunday afternoon - and that's one that ends in a good pub. Whether it's a pub-grub Sunday tea or a cold pint after the stroll that you are looking for, there are a number of great options out there.

If you are prepared to take a quick drive or a bus trip then there are lots of picturesque walks outside of the city centre that either use a pub as a starting point or an ending one. We've rounded up a few of our favourite walks, each with car parking onsite or nearby, using the Pubwalks app.

Here are five walks to get you started and the pubs you can finish up in.

1 - The Old Reindeer

Edingley, open countryside walk, 4 miles, 2 hours

The Old Reindeer is a classic country pub which you can find on a two-hour open-countryside stroll. As well as the comfortable, relaxed pub, there is a courtyard garden where you can pull up a bench for a rest and a gin.

The pub is also known for its food which includes all the pub classics such. It's also dog friendly so you can include your four-legged friends on the trail.

2 - The Dog and Duck

Kings Clipstone, Sherwood forest walk 6 miles, 3 hours

The beautifully refurbished Dog and Duck is a great spot to nip in for a post-walk celebratory pint....or three. The gastro-pub boasts a large menu with all the favourites and a pizza oven too.

It can get very busy as it's a popular spot for dog walkers so prepare to battle for a table at busy times. But there is a large beer garden where you can rest if you need to.

3 - The Ragley Boat Stop

Barrow on Trent, River and canal walk, 4.5 miles, 2.4 hours

A friendly and relaxed pub where you can sink into the sofas if you've made it this far. The exceptionally friendly staff make this an absolute port in the storm or in this case, the cold February air.

The route takes you along the river and canal so it's a scenic walk with plenty to take in on the way. The pub often runs specials on their food too so it's worth having a quick glance at the menu before you order.

4 -The Boat Inn / Trent Navigation

Canal walk, 1.8 miles, 35 minutes

The canal walk is one that could end in pubs on either side. If you start in town then you could stop by the Boat Inn in Lenton for a cheeky post-walk pint. The traditional pub has a large beer garden and it's off the beaten track so it's a quieter area.

If you choose to do the walk from Beeston to the city then you are in the perfect position to stop by The Trent Navigation which is just off the canal on Meadow Lane. If you choose to keep going with the walk then you could also pop into the Waterfront, Canalhouse and Via Fosse.

5 -The Norfolk Arms, Ringinglow

Adventure route, 4, miles, 2 hours

In the heart of the Peak District, with a large beer garden, and not one but four open fires, stands the Norfolk Arms in Rininglow. Exactly one hour from Nottingham in the car, this route is described as challenging but could be perfect for dog walkers, as the venue also welcomes well-behaved dogs.
