With Usher set to take the stage for the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show in Las Vegas on Sunday, it’s worth looking at the musical acts we’d love to see in the future.
Ranging from pop stars to throwback specials, we’ve picked five halftime show ideas that would have us very intrigued to tune in during the game break.
While one of these picks is obviously one of the most popular halftime show performances people hope to see (we’ll let you guess), all of these would be great picks to entertain us on Super Bowl Sunday.
Here are our five suggestions for Super Bowl halftime shows in the future.
1
90s boy band takeover
If we could have our way, NSYNC and Backstreet Boys would join together for the ultimate 1990s boy band extravaganza at halftime.
Imagine NSYNC doing “Bye Bye Bye” before Backstreet Boys go right into “Larger Than Life” on the same stage? A million millennials would spontaneously combust in front of their televisions.
2
Kendrick Lamar
We would love it if rap icon Kendrick Lamar headlined the Super Bowl halftime show when it returns to Los Angeles in 2027 (or even sooner, if we’re being perfectly honest).
He’s one of the most explosive live performers in all of music, and we’re betting he’d put on one of the best shows ever if he got the opportunity to perform solo during the big game.
3
Taylor Swift
Even if you’re not the world’s biggest Swiftie (raises hand), it’s hard not to imagine how a Taylor Swift Super Bowl performance might go.
It’d be one of the most social media’d Super Bowl halftime shows of all time, and can you imagine the memes we’d get?
Swift fans would get a true dream come true with this booking, and the rest of us would probably enjoy at least one or two of the performances (y’know, those of us who feel she did her best work in the early 2010s).
4
Foo Fighters
If we could pick a rock band to play at halftime of the Super Bowl, the Foo Fighters would be our top choice.
Dave Grohl is one of the best showmen in all of music, and we’re betting he’d bring the house down with his seminal rock outfit.
Can you imagine the band playing, like, “Best of You” or “The Pretender” as fireworks are going off? We’re very here for it.
5
Beyoncé (round 2)
While Beyoncé has played a Super Bowl somewhat recently (2016), we’re eager to see her return to one of the biggest stages in the world.
Hers is easily the best halftime performance of the past decade, and there is just no world where Beyoncé puts on a bad show. It’d be must-see television.
