A car does not need to be falling apart in the driveway before replacement starts making sense. Sometimes the bigger warning appears in the numbers, the reliability, or the growing list of things you no longer trust your car to handle.
That matters because “shop for a new car” does not automatically mean “buy a brand-new car tomorrow.” It means the search should begin before a breakdown, repair bill, or bad trade-in situation forces the decision. Shopping calmly gives you time to compare prices, arrange financing if needed, sell privately, or simply discover that your current car still deserves another year.
