5 reasons why Ashok Gehlot has edge over Shashi Tharoor in Congress president's election

NEW DELHI: Congress's Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor met party president Sonia Gandhi on September 19 and got the latter’s approval to contest the organisation's presidential election. With this development, it appears that the presidential poll would be contested between Tharoor and Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, provided no one from the Nehru-Gandhi family enters the fray.

Nehru-Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi has not yet clarified whether or not he would contest the election scheduled for October 17. If he throws his hat in the ring, no one else may contest against him.
