Like in most sports, it’s fair to say that some NFL matchups can be rather dull affairs. So, let’s do something nice for you, shall we? We will run you through the games that we think will be awesome to watch this season, even if you’ve got no cash riding on them. These are games that will have you on the edge of your seat!
We can’t promise that there will be fireworks in every game here. We’ve seen some games that look awesome on paper, only to end up leaving a lot to be desired. Even if you’re betting on the NFL, some of those games are a hard slog to get through.
Still, we’ve got hope. Let’s jump in.
As a note, we are starting from week 6 here; there were some awesome games in the first five weeks, but it would be wrong of us to tell you to go back and watch them!
Kansas City in San Francisco (Week 7)
The last time these two teams faced off against each other, it was nail-biting. We got into the fourth quarter, and still, there was nothing between the teams. It could have gone either way. Of course, it ended up only going way – Kansas City won.
Now, that last matchup showcased exactly why Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league, without comparison. We think the week 7 game may demonstrate exactly the same. However, beyond Patrick Mahomes, the two teams are fairly evenly matched both offensively and defensively, so we may still have almost four quarters before there is any real indication about who will win.
You’ll want to settle in for a few hours for this one because we reckon you’ll see some great plays here. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Patrick Mahomes do his thing?
Chicago in Washington (Week 8)
This is shaping up to be a good game, we hope. There will be a lot of new blood out on the field for both teams, particularly on the quarterback front. The new blood always has something to prove, and we love watching a few young Quarterbacks as their greenness means that they tend to be a bit more creative.
Plus, this game will be featuring two of the earliest picks from the latest draft, so there are some great players too.
We don’t think it will be that close. Well, it may be, but unless something changes in the next couple of weeks, we see the Bears taking it. It will be an awesome watch, though.
Miami v L.A. Rams (Week 10)
Oh boy. This is a game that has been pencilled into our calendar for a long time. We are expecting this game to be an incredibly high-scoring game. If you love your touchdowns, then you’ll almost certainly want to be tuning in.
Both of these teams are currently being led by some of the best offensive minds in the league. They are a little bit lacking in defensive tactics, but they know how to score, and they know how to score well.
So, what happens when you have two teams that only know how to push forward and go for the points? Well, you get real end-to-end stuff.
How this game will end up is anybody’s guess. We suppose it will come down to whoever is able to cobble together a half-decent defense. But, do bear in mind that any defense will be half-hearted because here it will be all about making sure that the opponent is outscored.
Green Bay in Seattle (Week 15)
We don’t think there has ever been a game between these two that hasn’t managed to keep us riveted from start to finish. You put these two teams into any field, and magic is sure to happen. We don’t know why. Maybe it is magic.
We can see this being a fairly high-scoring game, although both of these teams have a decent defense at the moment, particularly the Packers, so any high score will be hard fought for.
Since we are still a decent amount of time away from this game, it is hard to know which way it will go. At the moment, our money will probably be on the Packers, but that could change depending on the next nine weeks of the season. All we know is that this game will be nail-biting stuff. Probably more so if you’re a fan of either of the teams.
Detroit In San Francisco (Week 17)
If you’re a Lions fan, sorry about this pick. You all know how close you were to being in the Super Bowl. Just a couple more conversions in the earlier matchup between these two teams, and the Lions would have been in their first Super Bowl ever. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
Of course, there is no Super Bowl on the line for this matchup. However, the previous meeting showed that there is some epic talent for both teams, and they know how to put on a show. Sure, it is a bit later on in the season here, so the tired legs might be starting to show. However, the Lions have something to prove. They’ll want to win. They want to have payback. Sure, it won’t be as sweet as when a Super Bowl is on the line, but a win is a win, right?
So, there you have it. Those are our picks for the top 5 games that you should probably tune into for the rest of this season. Yes. You might have a different idea of what to watch. Yes. Things may change as the season rolls on. However, for now, we reckon each of these five games will be a great watch, so set yourself a reminder, find out where they are showing, and settle in for a few hours of fun. It may well be some of the best football you see this season.
