5 Chemical-Free Pest Control Methods for the Indian Kitchen Using Natural Herbs and Repellents

Neem Leaf Spray for Cockroaches and Crawling Insects

Neem works because azadirachtin, its active compound, disrupts the hormonal systems of insects without affecting mammals. Boil a handful of dried neem leaves in two cups of water for ten minutes, cool it, strain it into a spray bottle, and apply it along the base of kitchen cabinets, behind the refrigerator, and around the drain area. The smell dissipates within an hour for humans. For cockroaches, the residue lingers long enough to matter. Reapply every four to five days. Neem oil diluted in water (roughly 5ml per 500ml) works even faster if you have it.
