5 biggest changes in Elden Ring patch notes 1.08

Elden Ring just got a brand new patch, bringing the game up to version 1.08 – but this isn’t just your usual suite of balance adjustments and bug fixes, no, this introduces brand new content to the game. In this free update, the Colosseums that have been present in The Lands Between from the beginning are now open, and intense battles are raging inside.

For everything in the new update, just read through our breakdown below.

Colosseums are now open

Yep, all three Colosseums are now open. You can access Colosseums as early as Limgrave, far before you even fight Margit and Godrick. Once you’ve visited a Colosseum, you’ll be able to visit the new PVP mode at any time from a new Marika effigy you can find at Roundtable Hold.

To smooth over the online gameplay, a stability update has also been added, which should help these new matches operate smoothly. If you’ve ever wanted to dabble in PVP, it’s now been made easier than ever, allowing you to go for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or even free-for-all engagements.

New character hairstyles available

If you’re going online more often, you should want to look as stylish as possible, and so there are new hairstyles available in the character creator for just that purpose. You don’t even have to start a new game, as you can edit your current character using the mirror in Roundtable Hold.

New PVP-only balance changes

More balance changes aimed squarely at PVP gameplay have been implemented, as in the last patch, with many of the changes being reductions to Poise Damage. Straight, Thrusting, Heavy Thrusting, and Curved Swords all see a Poise Damage nerf, in addition to Axes, Spears, Twinblade Swords, and Katanas. Bestial Sling also has a Poise Damage reduction, while Carian Slicer has been nerfed slightly.

Other balance changes

There are more balance changes, but these apply to the game at large. One of the biggest notes here for the players who keep their eye on the PVP meta is that Colossal Swords have increased rolling and crouching attack speeds. We’re back, baby.

Bug fixes

Elden Ring had bugs? Yes, a lot of them, actually, and the latest patch notes has a short lift of issues that have been fixed, even if you didn’t know they were a problem in the first place.
