San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans has admitted that he failed to recognise Seattle Seahawks cornerback Trevon Diggs during a heated on-field confrontation, explaining why he turned his opponent around to check his jersey.

The exchange occurred during San Francisco's 32-29 victory over Seattle at Lumen Field on Sunday, 11 October 2026. Evans later explained the incident in a post-game interview, revealing that he initially had no idea who was confronting him.
