Week 5 in the NFL is here and through the first quarter of the season, the San Francisco 49ers have leaders in all three offensive categories — passing, receiving and rushing.
The Arizona Cardinals will face the 49ers on the road this week and are coming off their worst defensive performance of the season, allowing 42 points and 449 yards to the Washington Commanders.
They will be challenged again.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is second in the NFL in passing yards with 1,130, trailing only Geno Smith of the Seattle Seahawks.
The surprise is with receiving yards. The Niners have Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, but neither one of them is among the league leaders in receiving yards. Instead, it is Jauan Jennings. He has 364 receiving yards, which is fourth in the league.
The Niners have gone without Christian McCaffrey so far this season. McCaffrey led the NFL in rushing in 2023. His replacement, Jordan Mason, is No. 2 in the NFL right now. He has 447 rushing yards through four games, trailing only Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens, who has 480.
