The 49ers kicking situation got a couple of curveballs thrown at it when both kickers on their 90-man roster went down with injuries. Rookie Jake Moody is dealing with a quad strain, while veteran Zane Gonzalez has a calf injury that may keep him out a few weeks.
It’s unclear how San Francisco will proceed heading into Week 1, but they worked out a pair of kickers Monday according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
Tristan Vizcaino and Taylor Russolino were both on hand to try out for the 49ers.
Vizcaino, 27, was with the 49ers at the end of the 2020 and drilled all three of his kicks in a loss to Seattle.
Russolino is 34 and made his NFL debut in 2020 with the Broncos. He missed his only field goal try, a 51-yard attempt, and missed two of his three extra-point attempts. He most recently kicked for the XFL’s Arlington Renegades.
