49ers’ Brock Purdy makes history with win vs. Steelers in Week 1

In his first start since leaving the turf in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a significant arm injury, Brock Purdy stepped on the field in Week 1 of the new season against the Pittsburgh Steelers and showed no signs of rust.

Purdy commanded Kyle Shanahan’s offense up and down the field as the San Francisco 49ers went on to a dominant 30-7 win in Week 1 on Sunday. With his sixth consecutive regular-season win since stepping under center for the 49ers, Purdy made history.

According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, Purdy is the first passer in NFL history to win his first six regular-season starts and toss at least a pair of touchdown tosses. Purdy is also the first quarterback in NFL history with a passer rating of at least 95 or more in his first six career regular-season starts.

Purdy finished Sunday with 220 yards through the air on 19-of-29 passes on the way to two touchdown passes. Purdy capped the Week 1 win over the Steelers, with a 111.3 passer rating against the Steelers.

Purdy will have the chance to add on to his historic run in Week 2 next Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams.
