Forty migrant children who disappeared from UK asylum hotels remain unaccounted for, according to a parliamentary report published on Thursday, 27 August 2026. The Joint Committee on Human Rights said it was 'extremely concerned' that children who went missing from Home Office accommodation in previous years had still not been found.

Campaigners described the situation as a 'significant child protection failure,' after the government told MPs in June that 472 children had gone missing from asylum accommodation in total, with 432 subsequently located.
