From time to time, we’ve seen athletes from another sport like rugby or Australian rules football join the NFL, with varying degrees of success (see Jordan Mailata!).
The potential latest name? That would be Louis Rees-Zammit, who is a 23-year-old Welsh rugby star who will reportedly sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, apparently showing off some seriously good skills as a potential kick returner (which is good news given the new kickoff rules).
If you see the highlights below, you’ll understand the idea. He’s shifty and has a ton of speed, looking raw but like he could fit in if he trains with the team:
The #Chiefs also plan on giving Louis Rees-Zammit a shot to be involved with kickoffs — which with the new rules makes this a significant signing. pic.twitter.com/HramyqTyaA https://t.co/aMQjwSMsfS
