BENGALURU: The third Covid-19 wave has had little impact on industrial production in Karnataka, with most industries maintaining their post-second wave recovery level of 60% in December and January. The third wave hit in the last week of December.
While the government, on January 5, imposed weekend and night curfew and ordered restaurants, pubs and movie halls to function at only 50% seating capacity, weekend curfew remained only for two weeks and had little impact on industries, both in terms of productivity and sales.
“Production especially in the manufacturing sector remained at the same level as it was before the third wave. There were no specific issues reported in MSMEs (micro, small, medium enterprises),” said Gunjan Krishna, commissioner, department of industries and commerce. She said since industrial activity, including movement of workers, were allowed during night curfew, productivity was unaffected.
