350 new Covid-19 cases in south Tamil Nadu, 148 in central districts

MADURAI/TRICHY: The ten southern districts of Tamil Nadu reported 350 new Covid-19 cases and 1,738 active cases with 158 recoveries on Saturday. In Madurai, with 50 new cases and 15 recoveries, active cases climbed to 211. Madurai Corporation officials collected 40,100 as fine from 50 individuals and 65 establishments for not adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols on Thursday and Friday.

With 88 cases, Kanyakumari recorded the highest number of new cases, followed by Tirunelveli (70), Tuticorin (62), Madurai (50), Sivagangai (25), Virudhunagar (17), Tenkasi (16), and Theni (10). Dindigul (7) and Ramanathapuram (5) reported new cases in single digits. Kanyakumari (438) has the highest number of active cases, followed by Tirunelveli (330), Tuticorin (282), Madurai (211), Virudhunagar (179) and Sivagangai (111).
