35-year-old man held for stealing car by brandishing pistol in west Delhi: Police

NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old man has been apprehended by the police on charges of car theft, along with his accomplice, after they brandished a pistol and stole a car in Janakpuri, West Delhi.

The incident transpired on October 6 when a taxi driver reported to the Delhi Police that he had been waiting for a passenger near B-Block at approximately 4:15 am. Two individuals in a Hyundai i10 car approached him, with one of them wielding a pistol. They subsequently fled the scene with the taxi driver's car and mobile phone, as per Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.

The victim promptly contacted the Janakpuri police station and informed them that his car was equipped with a GPS system, making it possible to track its live location. A police team was swiftly assembled, and they successfully traced the stolen car. The primary suspect, Sikander, was arrested.

Sikander confessed to his involvement in the crime, stating that he committed it in pursuit of a lavish lifestyle. He also disclosed that he carried out the theft with his friend, Parvesh, who is expected to be arrested shortly.

The authorities recovered the stolen car, the mobile phone, and a toy pistol from Sikander. Further investigations into the case are ongoing, according to the DCP.
