35 unseen crowd photos from the first ever T in the Park near Glasgow in 1994

Back in 1994, a legend was born a few miles outside of Glasgow as the first ever T in the Park came into being.

The first T in the Park was held on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31, 1994 just 15 miles southeast of Glasgow at Strathclyde Country Park in Hamilton. While many more have claimed to have had a ticket in the years since, the site had a capacity for 17,000 people on each of the two days, with just 2,000 choosing to camp.

On the main stage in 1994 were Bjork, The Levellers, Primal Scream, Crowded House and Teenage Fanclub. Meanwhile the King Tut's Tent played host to an impressive list of future superstars who were just breaking through, such as Pulp, The Manic Street Preachers and the mighty Oasis, who were just about to release their debut album Definitely Maybe.

T in the Park sadly came to an end in 2016, but was replaced with TRNSMT festival from 2017.

These rare photos, many of which have never been seen before, give us a flavour of what Scotland's original music festival was like in its inaugural year. Aren't they sublime?
