Egypt confirmed on Saturday that more than 31 million people have been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, amid a stable number in daily infections.
On Saturday, the Health Ministry said the average number of daily infections during the last week reached 788 cases, while the average daily death toll in the same period reached 12 new cases.
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, said in a statement that the average daily number of people recovering from coronavirus last week was 766, bringing the total number of recoveries to 430,198.
He added that 31,551,587 people have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
Last week, Egyptian health authorities said the reports on COVID-19 infections, deaths and recovery will be issued at the beginning of each week, on Saturdays, instead of on a daily basis.
The Health Ministry said the decision follows the recession of the fifth wave of the pandemic, and the decline in infections and hospital beds occupancy rates.
It called on citizens to register on its website to receive the vaccine.
“Coronavirus vaccines contribute to protecting all family members from severe infections with coronavirus and its variants,” the ministry said.
It stressed that the State spares no effort in providing vaccines to citizens for free, through permanent cooperation with international organizations and bodies.
