Millions of tiny oysters are being dumped into the United States's Chesapeake Bay in a massive rescue mission that scientists hope could revive one of America's most important waterways.
In the latest phase of the ambitious conservation project, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) and the Severn River Association released three million baby oysters into Maryland's Severn River, pushing the total number planted so far to 19 million. Their target is an eye-catching 30 million oysters by the end of 2026.
