The Chicago Bulls have some serious tweaking to do this summer. Arturas Karnisovas has stated his desire to avoid a rebuild and compete for a playoff spot next season, but if that’s the ultimate goal, then Chicago needs to make some big-time changes to the roster around their current core.
Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic are a solid group, but as we saw last season, they aren’t quite good enough to guarantee a playoff spot. That being said, if the Bulls put the right pieces around them, they should be able to lead the team on a postseason run.
Right now, Chicago’s forward position is led by a bunch of youngsters who could use some guidance. Here are three veteran forwards the Bulls should target in free agency this summer to provide depth and leadership.
3 veteran forwards for the Chicago Bulls to target in free agency: JaMychal Green
JaMychal Green was able to give the Golden State Warriors solid minutes this past season. He wouldn’t be a primary option on the Bulls, but his leadership and ability to play around 15-20 minutes a night would be a nice addition next to the likes of Patrick Williams and Dalen Terry.
3 veteran forwards for the Chicago Bulls to target in free agency: Markieff Morris
Similar to JaMychal Green, Markieff Morris wouldn’t give the Bulls a ton of minutes, but he’d be a great veteran to have on the bench. His toughness would be a nice addition, and during his time with the Dallas Mavericks this past season, he actually showed that he still has a solid three-point shot in his arsenal, which would be very useful for the Bulls.
3 veteran forwards for the Chicago Bulls to target in free agency: Torrey Craig
Easily the most playable option on this list, Torrey Craig would be the perfect signing for the Bulls this summer. He’s a great 3-and-D option at the power forward spot who could probably be a starter on some teams. Craig would make the perfect backup to Williams at the four.
