3 Rangers talkers as Ibrox side beat Dundee to reach Premier Sports Cup semi-final

DAVIS ROLLS BACK THE YEARS

Steven Davis was sublime during the match. He dictated play throughout and showed just how valuable he can be for Rangers. He scored his second goal of the season early on in the match when he reacted quickly by heading home the rebound from a Scott Wright shot. The Northern Irishman was a calming presence until he was substituted late on and was a bright spark in what was a quiet match overall. If the Ibrox side wants to try and win the Premier Sports Cup for the first time in over 11 years, then they will need a similar quality of performance from the former Southampton man in the semi-finals and potentially final.

YILMAZ IMPRESSES

The Turk has found his game time limited since joining the Light Blues in the summer. The match against Dundee was only his second start under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, after he played against Queen of the South in the last round. However, he did not do himself any harm with his performance here. The full-back was solid defensively but also offered an option going forward. His passing was crisp, and his distribution from the back was also good. He did tire at the end, but the way he played was very much a positive to take from the match.

MORELOS LEFT FRUSTRATED

The Colombian striker could just not get going. He received little service, in all fairness, but also, at times, he was completely out of the game. Often he was completely isolated and not involved in the build-up play. He had one attempt saved in the first 45 minutes, and that was the closest he came to scoring. When subbed late on the forward cut a frustrated figure, but given his limited contribution during the cup tie, along with him still building fitness since returning from injury, it was hardly a surprise he did not finish the fixture.
