3 Powerful Bhagavad Gita Lessons for Inner Peace & Strength

Lord Krishna’s deep wisdom that is contained in the sacred text Bhagavad Gita has been helping generations of individuals for thousands for years. Indeed, the truths gifted by Bhagwan helped Arjuna become successful in the Mahabharata war. Whatever the struggles that you may be going through in life right now, Bhagavad Gita can provide you solace. In this article, we will explore 3 powerful lessons that we can adopt from the Gita in order to live a life of strength and absolute inner calmness during the toughest of life’s challenges.

1. Lord Krishna About Finding Balance

While holding the shoulder of a disoriented and anxiety-ridden Arjuna, Lord Krishna said:

“He who is content with whatever comes, without attachment, not disappointed when he gets nothing, is wise.”

A basic truth that all of us must understand is that attachments and expectations are the root causes of suffering. Many of us expect something in return when we give something to others. We expect and crave for the desired outcomes to our actions. However, the same expectations and craving will attach our souls to worldly elements. By constantly engaging in this game of craving and aversions, we are going far away from obtaining ultimate liberation from the never-ending cycle of birth and death.

Therefore, by internalising the wisdom contained in Bhagwan’s words, you can direct your focus entirely onto fulfilling your duty. Put your heart and soul into it. Once it is done, don’t worry about the results. This mindset shift in itself can result in profound inner purification.

2. Lord Krishna About Time

Bhagwan told Arjuna:

“I am Time, the mighty destroyer of worlds.”

This verse can be philosophically translated in these words: “Among all kinds of killers, time is the ultimate because time kills everything.” Most of us live with the unconscious belief that death can happen to others, but it may not occur to ourselves, or at least not anytime soon. However, the wheel of time is constantly moving and an uncompromising truth of existence is impermanence. Realising this truth, we should dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly into the fulfilment of our duties. Awareness of this fact will also help us in letting go of the distractions that come our way.

3. Lord Krishna About Right Way to Live

Bhagwan said:

“Let your aim be the good of all. Then carry out your task in life with an unswerving devotion to truth, refusing to yield to selfish desires or to the errors of human nature.”

By aligning ourselves with truth, we can obliterate all kinds of complexities instantly. Focus on the truth, say the truth and engage in truth. Secondly, the fulfilment of our purpose in life should help those around us in some way or the other. Moreover, we can shrug off meaningless cravings and aversions by surrendering ourselves to the Supreme or Lord Krishna.
