3 new to Netflix shows you should binge-watch this weekend (Feb. 6-8)

Streaming-warp-netflix-orange-logo.

As we march further into February, the novelty of a new year has settled, and the reality of a shorter month begins to sink in. With fewer days on the calendar this month, free time suddenly feels a little more valuable, making it all the more important to spend it on shows that are genuinely worth the commitment. A packed release schedule means there’s no shortage of options, but choosing what actually deserves your attention can be a little tricky.

Despite its shorter run, February brings the same wintry weather that makes a compelling TV binge especially hard to resist. Thankfully, Netflix shows no signs of slowing its steady stream of new arrivals. With plenty of fresh titles competing for space on your watchlist, we’ve narrowed things down. If you’re looking to make the most of your streaming time this month, here are three new-to-Netflix shows that deserve a spot on your watchlist.

‘The Lincoln Lawyer’

One show that returned with a new season this week is “The Lincoln Lawyer,” a legal drama based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels, in which each season revolves around a single major case. Created by talented writer David E. Kelley, a former attorney who has helped shape some of the best legal dramas on TV, the show threads together its central mystery with smaller legal battles along the way. Everything feeds into that core case, making it especially binge-friendly.

“The Lincoln Lawyer” season 4 adapts “The Law of Innocence,” placing defense attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) in a fight for his own freedom. After a former client’s body is discovered in the trunk of his car, Mickey is arrested and charged with murder. Unable to post bail, he elects to defend himself from inside jail while his legal team works to uncover who framed him. Facing a relentless prosecutor and intense scrutiny, Mickey and his colleagues must piece together the truth and prove his innocence before it’s too late.

‘Search Party’

While talks between Netflix and Warner Bros. are still ongoing, another HBO Max series has already landed on Netflix, and fans of offbeat comedy will want to take note. That show is “Search Party,” a genre-bending series that follows a group of millennials as they tumble into increasingly bizarre mysteries. Originally airing on TBS, the series ran for 50 episodes across five seasons from 2016 to 2022, moving to HBO Max starting with season 3. With its wild humor and unexpected turns, “Search Party” might just be a perfect fit for Netflix’s comedy offerings.

Dory Sief (Alia Shawkat) is a young woman living in New York City who becomes fixated on the disappearance of an acquaintance from college after spotting her missing‑person poster. Though she barely knew the woman, Dory recruits her boyfriend Drew (John Paul Reynolds) and their friends Elliott (John Early) and Portia (Meredith Hagner) to help investigate what happened. As they chase leads and interview people connected to the missing woman, their amateur sleuthing pulls them deeper into the mystery and complicates their personal lives.

‘Unfamiliar’

If you’re excited for “The Night Agent” season 3 and need another spy thriller to pass the time, you’ll want to check out “Unfamiliar.” The series is part of Netflix’s ongoing investment in German-language originals, following hits like “Dark,” “Barbarians,” and “Kleo,” so I’m confident this one will see the same success. All six episodes dropped at once, so it’s perfect for a weekend binge, and early reactions online have been positive. Karina from Heaven of Horror wrote, “If you’re a fan of well-written characters and enjoy a solid spy thriller plot with lots of action and twists, then Unfamiliar is definitely for you.”

Simon (Felix Kramer) and Meret Schäfer (Susanne Wolff) are a married couple living in Berlin who once worked as intelligence operatives and now run a secret safe house for people needing to disappear. Their quiet life is upended when a threat they believed long gone reappears, forcing them back into danger. As former enemies, assassins, Russian agents, and Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) begin closing in, the couple must evade capture and protect their family while trying to maintain their cover.
