We may be in February already, but the weather hasn’t turned to spring quite yet. So in my household, the weekends are still dominated by streaming the latest crop of Netflix TV shows. And frankly, the platform is bringing enough worthwhile series at the moment that I’m not complaining either.
The biggest new arrival is “How to Get to Heaven from Belfast,” the highly anticipated new mystery-comedy from the creator of “Derry Girls.” I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek, and let me tell you, it’s the best thing I’ve watched on Netflix in 2026 so far, period. Meanwhile, as it’s Valentine’s Day this weekend, one of the streamer’s most popular game shows has a cupid-themed special, and a popular legal drama is sticking around, too.
If you don’t want to waste a moment of your precious weekend scrolling through Netflix trying to find something worth watching, then you’re in luck. I’ve done the hard work for you and picked out the three new Netflix shows that I’m recommending you binge-watch this weekend.
‘How to Get to Heaven from Belfast’
If whittling down Netflix’s mammoth library into three top picks still isn’t enough for you, then I can save you time right now. The one new Netflix show to stream this weekend is “How to Get to Heaven from Belfast.” This mystery-comedy comes from Lisa McGee, the creator of “Derry Girls,” and it throws that show’s note-perfect comedy and a mystery narrative into a blender. The result is a show I didn’t know I wanted but absolutely love.
“How to Get to Heaven from Belfast” follows three childhood friends (Roisin Gallagher, Sinéad Keenan and Caoilfhionn Dunne) who are reunited when the estranged fourth member of their gang from adolescence suddenly dies. This opens a box of secrets the trio had thought long closed, and they venture across Ireland (and further) to find answers. This is my current pick for the best new show I’ve watched in 2026, and it will be tough to beat.

‘Is it Cake? Valentines’
It’s Valentine’s weekend (with the big day falling on Saturday), so if you need something seasonal to watch with your significant other, “Is It Cake? Valentines” is pretty much the default Netflix pick. This is a single, 45-minute seasonal special, so it won’t even take you an hour to fully polish off, but if you enjoy this sugary appetizer, you’ve a whole buffet of “Is It Cake?” to sample.
If you’ve missed the “Is It Cake?” phenomenon, it’s a simple but oddly satisfying show. Bakers compete to create fondant-covered confectionery masterpieces that resemble everyday objects. This cake is then placed in a lineup, and judges have to guess which item is the baked good. This all leads to the reason most viewers watch: the knife-cut moment, where it’s revealed which object is cake. Trust me, it’s more fun than it sounds.

‘The Lincoln Lawyer’
Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” returned for its fourth season last week, and it’s been a mainstay of the platform’s top 10 most-watched list ever since. Based on Michael Connelly’s book, it follows Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), an L.A. criminal-defense lawyer, who must do right by his clients while battling his own demons. It’s an enjoyable legal drama, and in some ways feels like a throwback to the days when network television dominated.
After multiple seasons, the formula might have been in danger of growing a little stale, but “The Lincoln Lawyer” season 4 shakes things up. Based on the novel “The Law of Innocence,” the tables have been turned. This time, it’s Haller in the courtroom hot seat, as he awaits trial after being framed for murder in the dramatic season 3 finale. With his reputation and freedom on the line, Haller needs the help of his legal team to prove his innocence.
