'The Grey'
After surviving a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness, John Ottway (Liam Neeson) finds himself leading a small group of survivors through brutal conditions with a pack of wolves closing in around them. Not so great. On top of all that, Ottway is dealing with the loss of his wife, so he's not exactly steeling himself for a fight. Even worse. But he decides to pull through, stave off the relentless wolves that seem more like massive demon pups, and save the survivors from the plane crash so they can get back to some semblance of normal life. If you're into the "massive monster fights regular guy" trope, there's plenty of that in this excellent Neeson flick.

'The Shallows'
Nancy Adams (Blake Lively) is a surfer stranded on a rock just offshore with a great white shark circling between her and safety. Alone at the beach, she's got no lifeline as the shark knocks her off her surfboard after she tries to escape. Beaten and broken with makeshift stitches, Adams finds herself without any way to move forward. How will she end up surviving when the Great White circling around her seems dead set on devouring her?

'Cujo'
This Stephen King classic is all about a once-friendly St. Bernard that becomes rabid. The Trenton family specifically mother Donna (Dee Wallace) and her young son Tad (Danny Pintauro) find themselves trapped in a broken-down car with what looks to be the most devilish dog waiting outside to devour them. But perhaps the most terrifying thing about this chilling tale is that Cujo used to be a kind, friendly little pup. No one wants to think about their canine transforming like this, and that's part of what makes this movie so scary.
