3 barkeeps get fresh with summery watermelon cocktails

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Lil’ Indies bartender Jeremy Kazmier used to spend summers at his grandfather’s little farm out in Apopka, Florida, when he was a kid. It wasn’t all that big, but there were goats and a field where he and his cousins would play baseball and a 1/4-acre garden where all sorts of things grew, one of which was watermelons.

His granddad would get big buckets of ice water, and drop the melons inside to cool them down.

“He’d take the melons and slam them down on this huge table and we would all sit there on a nice, hot summer day, eating watermelon and spitting the seeds out,” says Kazmier.
