2nd round: 4,500 students confirm RTE admissions

AHMEDABAD: As many as 4,525 students have confirmed their admissions to Class 1 under the Right To Education Act.

The government admitted 6,334 students in the second round. However, 1,809 parents did not confirm admissions till Monday which was the last date to submit confirmations.

“At the end of the second round, 13,242 RTE seats remain vacant. So, the government is likely to hold a third round of admissions soon,” said sources.

In the first round 64,456 students were given admissions, of which 53,387 students had confirmed their admissions. In total, the state government had made 71,154 RTE seats available in 9,957 schools across the state.

The government gives a grant of maximum Rs 13,000 per child to private schools for admitting them under RTE rule.
