BHUBANESWAR: Encouraged by the response to its six-month grievance redressal programme at people’s doorsteps, the chief minister’s office (CMO) is gearing up to launch its second phase soon.
Sources said senior officials from the CMO will conduct frequent surprise visits to monitor the progress of various projects implemented under this programme and actively engage with the public to gather their feedback from the grassroots level in the next few months.
In March-September, CMO officials led by 5T secretary V K Pandian visited all 147 assembly segments, spending around two days in each of the 30 districts. During the 62-day tour in six months, which started from Mayurbhanj on March 3 and ended in Jajpur on September 1, they held meetings with around 25 lakh people and collected 57,085 grievances.
The government has undertaken initiatives to address the prevailing issues with a team of officers working full time on the grievances. The primary goal of the second phase of district tours by CMO officials will be to closely monitor the implementation of the promised projects and resolve the bottlenecks, sources said.
A high-level meeting attended by Pandian and panchayti raj and drinking water department secretary Sushil Lohani on Saturday decided to implement Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software for real-time monitoring of problems relating to drinking water and their quick redressal, a government statement said.
