NEW DELHI: A powerful RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from a flat in northeast Delhi's Seemapuri on Wednesday afternoon in the aftermath of a raid conducted by the Delhi Police's special cell, who were in pursuit of suspects involved in planting an IED at the flower market in east Delhi's Ghazipur on January 14.
A major terror strike was averted as the IED contained around 2.2kg RDX and was packed in a rectangular iron casing weighing around 800 grams. Like the IED in Ghazipur, this also had an ABCD switch and a programmable timer, an ISI speciality. The bomb was later destroyed by the National Security Guard (NSG) explosive squad in a controlled explosion.
