Following the reveal of Kobe Bryant as NBA 2K24’s cover star, 2K announced NBA 2K24’s release date and new features, including crossplay on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. NBA 2K24 launches on Sep. 8, 2023, for all platforms.
“As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball,” Greg Thomas, president at VisualConcepts, said in a press release. “While we mark the history of the franchise, NBA 2K24 also looks ahead to the future to bring an innovative leap in technology and the introduction of community-requested features like crossplay.”
NBA 2K24 includes the new Mamba Moments mode, which lets you play as Kobe Bryant and recreate some of his long career’s most iconic moments, and it’s all brought to life with 2K’s new ProPLAY technology. 2K didn’t say much about it other than teasing greater fidelity than ever, as ProPLAY faithfully captures live NBA footage and recreates it in 2K gameplay.
The game’s 25th anniversary edition is a limited-edition celebration available until Sep. 10, 2023, for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and it includes a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass, virtual currency, pre-order bonuses, and MyCareer content for $149.99. The Black Mamba edition sells for $99.99 and comes with MyTeam points, a Kobe Bryant card, XP coins, and more.
Those who buy the Black Mamba or anniversary editions of the sports game for PlayStation or Xbox get dual-gen access for free, which means the game comes with a PS4 and PS5 version or an Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S version.
