28 stations, 35-km: Gurgaon's proposed metro corridor connects Sector 56 to Pachgaon with a Global City stop and Namo Bharat interchanges

Gurgaon is set to get a major new metro line cutting across some of its fastest-growing zones, and the detailed project report is now sitting on the chief minister's desk waiting for a green light, according to TOI.

Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation has finalised the DPR for a 35-kilometre corridor connecting Sector 56 on Golf Course Extension Road to Pachgaon on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10,428 crore and will have 28 stations along the way.

The Global City connection

One of the bigger draws of this corridor is a dedicated metro station inside the proposed Global City in Sector 36A, a mixed-use township being developed by HSIIDC across nearly 1,000 acres.

The project is being planned as a self-sustaining development with residential, commercial and industrial zones. Officials say the metro station will reduce dependence on private vehicles for the people living and working there.

HSIIDC has agreed to contribute Rs 1,500 crore towards the metro project to facilitate this connectivity.

How it connects to existing networks

The corridor has been designed with three major transit integration points.

At Sector 56, the new line will connect directly with the existing Rapid Metro, which currently runs from Cyber City to Sector 56. The alignment was extended to this point after the initial draft DPR was prepared, specifically to enable this link.

Near Sector 61, the corridor will intersect with the proposed Namo Bharat line running between Gurgaon and Greater Noida via Faridabad and Noida.

At Pachgaon, the line's southern end, an interchange station will connect passengers to the proposed Delhi-Bawal Namo Bharat corridor.

An additional interchange is also planned at Vatika Chowk, where a future metro line from Bhondsi to Rajiv Chowk is proposed to pass through.

The route, station by station

Starting from Sector 56, the corridor will move through Golf Course Road near Ghata village, then cover Sectors 61, 62, Nirvana Country and Sector 66 before reaching Vatika Chowk.

From there, the line moves onto the Southern Peripheral Road, with stations at Sectors 69, 70 and 75. It then passes through Kherki Daula, where another interchange is planned with the Namo Bharat line on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.

The route continues through Sector 36A, Global City, Sectors 88, 84, 85, 86, 89, 90 and 91, followed by Kankrola village and Sectors M-15, M-14, M-9 and M-8. After Manesar, the line passes through Sectors P-4, P-5 and P-7 before terminating at Pachgaon.
