In terms of incomings, Liverpool appeared to have a quiet summer transfer window, though they did sign Darwin Nunez for a fee which could rise to a club-record sum.
But there was plenty of action going the other way, with 26 players leaving Anfield. That includes eight stars who departed permanently, with the rest heading out on loan to gain more experience.
The players who departed have endured mixed fortunes with their new clubs, both those who left permanently and those who exited on loan. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at all 26 stars who departed Anfield and how they are getting on.
Loris Karius
Loris Karius finally left Liverpool this summer, four years after losing his place to Alisson. It took him until this month to find a new club in Newcastle, who signed him on an initial six-month contract, though he is yet to make an appearance.
"It's a good opportunity for me and a great project to be part of. It didn't take me long to make a decision. Newcastle have a great coach and play really attractive football. I felt it was the right project for me and I'm excited to work with the coaches and my new teammates," he said.

Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane was the biggest departure from Liverpool this summer, completing a drawn-out move to Bayern Munich. But his career has not got off to the best start, scoring just three goals so far this season.
He has gone six games without a goal in all competitions, with Bayern dropping to fifth in the table. Mane has come in for fierce criticism for his performances, including from former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann.
"He is not integrated. I saw him at Liverpool, where he played through the middle. That is not his position. Now he’s taking that position at FC Bayern as well. He is at his best when he comes from the outside. He doesn’t look happy to me," he said.
Divock Origi
Divock Origi became a cult hero at Liverpool by scoring goals at key times. He left in the summer in search of more game time, joining AC Milan, though he was recently slammed after failing to start any of their opening seven games.
"There is no doubt who the worst signing of the season has been in Serie A: Divock Origi. The Belgian left Liverpool hoping to finally nail down a starting spot at a top club, but his time at AC Milan has so far been a disaster," read a report in the Daily Mail.
Takumi Minamino
Similar to Origi, Takumi Minamino also left Anfield in search of more opportunities, joining Monaco. Also like Origi, the attacker has struggled to make an impact at his new side, making just two starts in Ligue 1.
He was recently branded the flop of the season by a French newspaper. It took him until the most recent round of games to finally score his first goal, in a 3-0 win over Reims, with Minamino hoping it can kickstart his spell at the club.
“I am very happy with the victory and of course, I am happy to have scored – finally! Everything is possible in football. I hope that will signal a change in fortunes, and allow me to feel even better,” he said.
Ben Woodburn
There had been high hopes for Ben Woodburn when he broke through at Liverpool but he failed to kick on from that early promise. He left in the summer on a free transfer for Preston, scoring one goal before getting injured, though he is expected back in a fortnight.
“Of course it was difficult but I came to a point where I needed to move on. I had some amazing moments that I’ll never forget but I wanted and needed first-team football. I had a few options but I wanted to come to Preston and challenge myself at this level,” he recently told the EFL.
Ben Davies
One of the most perplexing transfers in recent Liverpool history, Ben Davies departed the Reds without playing a game. He joined Rangers in the summer as Liverpool made a tidy profit, with the centre-back keen to get started at Ibrox.
"I’m just about to turn 27 and I want to turn what I think has been a good career into a great one. I’ve got my best years in front of me now. All my career, I’ve looked to take different opportunities. Going out on loan, taking moves when they've come about and not just staying in my comfort zone. That’s going to help me going forward," he told Rangers TV.
