The parents spending $250,000 a year to raise their family ‘like privately run organizations’

Former tech CEO Christine Landis, of San Diego, spends $250,000 annually on a full domestic support team, including a live-in assistant, weekend nannies and a private chef to run her household with corporate-level efficiency - (Dayley Photography)

Every Saturday at 6 a.m., two weekend nannies arrive at Christine Landis’s home in San Diego, California, to wake up her two young children, make breakfast and manage the morning routine. Landis, a 44-year-old former fintech CEO, does not usually come downstairs until around 9 a.m. after having coffee and talking in bed with her husband.

It’s all part of a home routine that costs $250,000 annually to run and includes a live-in family assistant, weekend care team, housekeeper and private chef who serves them three-course dinners at home while they wear pajamas.
