BHOPAL: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a social media friend on the pretext of marriage for around two years in Ashoka Garden locality. The case was reported at the police station on Tuesday.
Police said in her complaint she stated that around three years back in December 2019 she came in contact with the accused through social media.
She alleged that the accused befriended her and called her to meet at a hotel in November 2020. When she went to meet him, the accused allegedly outraged her modesty and since then he was repeatedly raping her till December 2021 keeping same promise. Police said that a few days back when she pressurised the accused to marry her, he refused.. Left with no other option, the girl approached Ashoka Garden police station on Tuesday to lodge a complaint. A case of sexual harassment was registered against him and further investigation is under way.
