Lovers of partying and telling stories, Scots have always enjoyed sharing a drink or two with friends.
From enjoying a 'hauf n' hauf' at a bar, to heading out on the randan with your mates for a wee 'swallie' or even picking up a 'cairry oot' on the way home, we've always had loads of terms we use in relation to alcohol.
Indeed customs and traditions such as sharing a quaich to cement a friendship (or settle a rivalry) or enjoying a dram to wet a newborn's head have meant that whisky and beer have often played a part in our culture through the ages.
