Recent airstrikes and shelling in several areas east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 22 people, according to Dr. Mohammad Saqer, spokesperson for Nasser Hospital. The casualties were brought to the hospital from nearby towns such as Bani Suhaila, Jorat Al-Lot, and Abbassan Al-Jadida.
Journalists in Khan Younis have reported heavy gunfire from quadcopters in the eastern part of the city. The Israeli military has confirmed ongoing operational activity in the Khan Yunis area, citing significant terrorist activity and rocket fire directed towards Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that their troops are conducting intelligence-based operations in response to the threats emanating from Khan Yunis. The IDF reported that terrorists were eliminated, primarily through sniper fire, and that underground terror infrastructure was discovered in the area.
Efforts to obtain further details on the airstrike that resulted in the 22 fatalities have been made to the IDF. However, due to limited access for international media in Gaza, the death toll remains unconfirmed independently.
