Twenty-two Brahmacharinis were initiated into sanyasa at Santhigiri Ashram here on Tuesday on the occasion of the 39th Sanyasa Deeksha anniversary.
Gurusthaneeya Sishyapoojitha Amritha Jnana Thapaswini initiated the Brahmacharinis. They worshipped the Guru, offering lotus flowers, a silver lamp, and a platter containing navadhanya. After offering a garland on a specially prepared pedestal and worshiping the Guru, each one received new name and clothes from the Shishyapoojitha. The white-clad Brahmacharinis changed into saffron clothes after initiation.
Ashram general secretary Swami Gururatnam Jnana Thapaswini ushered the new sanyasinis to the Sahakarana Mandiram and announced the initiation name of the new members. Four of the Sanyasinis are from outside the State.
With the addition of 22 new members, the strength of Santhigiri Sanyasa Sangham rose to 126 from the earlier 104. After the noon worship, various offerings of Sanyasa Sangha and Rakshakarta Samiti took place at the Lotus Parnashala in the ashram.
Devotees from different parts of the world and prominent personalities in various fields participated at the function. The function culminated with a procession of devotees holding lighted lamps.
