The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Francis Halzen on Tuesday for his contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical sources.
According to the National Academy of Sciences, Francis Halzen is a Vilas Research Professor and Gregory Breit Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He completed his Master’s and PhD degrees from the KU-Leuven, Belgium.
