2024 NFL draft: Texans to meet with CFL CB Qwan’tez Stiggers

The Houston Texans are searching far and wide for a new cornerback — even outside of the NFL.

Houston is hosting cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers for a pre-draft visit this week, Stiggers’ agent told KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. The 22-year-old did not play college football but is eligible for the 2024 draft. He spent the 2023 season with the Toronto Argonauts after a year in the Fan-Controlled Football League.

Stiggers, 22, dropped out of Lane College in 2020 months after his father passed away from injuries sustained in a serious car accident. He gave up football until his mother encouraged him to try out for the Fan Controlled Football League in 2022. Stiggers was the youngest player in the league and tallied five interceptions in 12 games, including one he returned for a. touchdown.

He signed with the Argonauts in 2023 where he won the CFL’s Outstanding Rookie Award following a 53-tackle, five-interception season in Toronto. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Stiggers played in the East-West Shrine Bowl. He ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at his Pro Day earlier this month and also met with the Detroit Lions.
