The New York Giants were defeated by the Washington Commanders, 27-22, on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium, dropping their record to 2-7 on the season.
The loss, coupled with several other wild results around the league, moved the Giants up in the 2025 NFL draft order. They are currently slated to select No. 7 overall, per Tankathon.
The results of a Monday Night Football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-4) and Kansas City Chiefs (7-0) will not impact the top of the order.
- New England Patriots (2-7)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (2-7)
- New Orleans Saints (2-7)
- Carolina Panthers (2-7)
- Cleveland Browns (2-7)
- Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)
- New York Giants (2-7)
- Miami Dolphins (2-6)
- Tennessee Titans (2-6)
- New York Jets (3-6)
The belief is that the Giants will target a top quarterback next April but they might have to move up in the order if they wish to target a safer pick. That is, of course, assuming they end up staying at No. 7 overall.
The problem facing general manager Joe Schoen and the Giants is that experts and analysts view this quarterback draft class as worse than the 2024 class. If team scouts feel the same way, that leaves the Giants in a precarious position.
But there’s still half a season left to go and many things can change. For now, the Giants are once again slated for a top-10 pick, which feels like a norm.
