Five games into the NFL season things are going about as badly as possible for the Chicago Bears. Despite having Justin Fields at quarterback, the offense can’t get going and we aren’t sure if the Bears are even sure how best to utilize his skills.
As we approached this three-round mock draft, we had to make a big supposition right out of the gate. Will Fields be the quarterback next year? If he isn’t, this mock changes in one very significant way. But for this simulation, we are predicting the Bears keep Fields around and instead take a shot to load up on the offensive side of the football to help him.
First round (No. 1) - WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State
If you want to help your franchise quarterback, get him a generational talent at wide receiver for him to throw to.
First round (No. 2) - TE Brock Bowers, Georgia
Chicago doubles down on help for Fields with yet another generational weapon in the passing game.
Second round (No. 33) - DT Maason Smith, LSU
Smith is an elite inside/outside defensive lineman with length rarely seen by a player with the type of power he displays.
Third round (No. 73) - C Sedrick Van Pran, Georgia
We love the fact that Van Pran plays with a high football IQ and takes great pride in being an elite run blocker.
