The final event of the PGA Tour 2022-23 regular season is here as a field of players hoping to earn an invitation to TPC Southwind has arrived at Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship.
Justin Thomas, the biggest name in the field, is fighting for more than just a playoff spot — he’s hoping to make a final impression on United States Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson. Thomas comes into the week in Greensboro, North Carolina, ranked 79th in the FedEx Cup standings. The top 70 get into the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis next week.
Adam Scott, Shane Lowry and Gary Woodland are just three of the other big names hoping a good week at Sedgefield can propel them into the postseason.

Death, taxes and Russell Henley playing well at the Wyndham.
Henley missed the cut in his most recent start — the Open — but has finished inside the top 20 in four of his last six starts.
His last three finishes at Sedgefield: 5th (’22), 7th (’21) and 9th (’20).
Denny McCarthy (+2800)
McCarthy has been circling a win all season long. Now he returns to a course where he’s had some success over the last few seasons.
Before missing the cut at last year’s Wyndham, McCarthy finished 15th in 2021, 9th in 2020 and 22nd in 2019.
In his most recent start, McCarthy missed the cut at the Open. But before that, he finished 2nd at the Memorial — he lost in a playoff to Viktor Hovland — T-20 at the U.S. Open, T-7 at the Travelers Championship and T-6 at the John Deere Classic.
J.T. Poston (+2800)
I had J.T. Poston on the card last week — he finished T-2 at the 3M — and I’m going right back to him.
Poston has finished T-6, T-6, T-41 (the Open) and T-2 over his last four starts.
He won the 2019 Wyndham Championship and finished 21st last year after missing the cut in 2020 and 2021.
Billy Horschel (+5500)
Billy Horschel? Really?
Yes! And here’s why.
He finally had a quality start at the 3M Open last week, tying for 13th. The Florida Gator has played well at Sedgefield in the past, finishing 27th in 2021, 2nd in 2020, 6th in 2019 and 11th in 2018.
And, let’s be honest, do you feel safe about betting against that beard? Didn’t think so.
