The 2023 PFL Europe women’s flyweight championship tournament ended grotesquely Friday in Dublin.
At 2023 PFL Europe 4, the cage-side physician at 3Arena called off the fight between Dakota Ditcheva and Valentina Scatizzi in between Round 1 and 2, and for good reason.
Scatizzi’s eye became so swollen that Ditcheva (10-0) even signaled at the end of Round 1 she knew it was over. With purple swelling and bruising above and below the eye, the doctor deemed Scatizzi (2-2) unable to continue and Ditcheva was named champion.

Ditcheva, 25, is one of the promotion’s most highly-touted prospects. She used a nasty muay Thai-based attack of knees to the body and head to cause the fight-ending damage. With the victory, Ditcheva earned $100,000.
