Having the most picks in the NFL draft is one thing. Having the largest draft capital is quite another.
What does it profit a team to pick seven times in the seventh round compared to having a top-10 overall selection?
Part of being successful in the draft is having adequate capital to plug holes with players who can contribute immediately. If NFL stands for “not for long,” as Jerry Glanville said, then teams can’t wait forever for youngsters to blossom.
