The New Orleans Saints had one clear need going into the 2023 NFL draft and that was to upgrade the pass rush, they continued to do that in the second round with their selection of Notre Dame’s Isaiah Foskey.
Foskey is a guy that meets all of their threshold and is an ultra productive pass rusher. With the Saints it usually fills as if it’s one or the other. He’s ultra athletic, coming in with a 9.61 Relative Athletic Score.
He was the career sacks leader at Notre Dame with 26.5 sacks. He forced a lot of fumbles through contact, another plus for him. He will slide right into the rotation, but the big thing is that he’s the type of guy that will be able to fill the Cameron Jordan role when his time comes to retire.
The downsides for him are mostly coachable things like hand work and using his lower-body strength to set the edge against the run.
