The 2023 NBA Summer League is now in the books, and it gave a number of players the opportunity to flash their potential and possibly earn a spot in the association.
The Lakers had a mix of can’t-miss players, prospects looking to get playing time with Los Angeles and those fighting for a spot in the league.
This year, they brought along Damion Baugh, a 6-foot-4 guard who went undrafted from Texas Christian University. Baugh has a couple of useful skills that could give him a shot with an NBA team.
Baugh failed to show anything significant
Overall, Baugh did not play well during the NBA Summer League. During the five games in Las Vegas, he averaged 3 points on 30% overall shooting and 20% from 3-point range. He didn’t play any better during the two games in the California Classic beforehand.
There were times, however, when Baugh showed good speed handling the ball in the open court. He had five assists in Los Angeles’ first game in Las Vegas, which was a victory over the Golden State Warriors. He dished four assists in its final game against the Los Angeles Clippers, but he also committed a whopping seven turnovers.
When he was in college, he showed some ability to facilitate and hit the open man, as evidenced by his 5.8 assists per game in his final season at TCU. There were some brief glimpses of these skills during summer league play.

But he has yet to show any real potential in any other facet of the game, especially when it comes to his outside shooting.
